About
About Puget Sound Pipe & Supply
Puget Sound Pipe & Supply was founded in 1917 near the docks of Seattle, at a time when the Pacific Northwest was emerging as a gateway to global commerce. Our founder, Ire Stratiner, started the company at age 28 with a simple philosophy: remain close to where industry is active, understand what customers truly need, and deliver superior products supported by exceptional service.
More than a century later, that philosophy continues to define who we are.
In 2017, Puget Sound Pipe & Supply proudly celebrated 100 years in business, marking a century of wholesale pipe, valves, and fittings (PVF) distribution. From a single downtown Seattle location serving the marine industry, PSP grew alongside the industries that shaped the Pacific Northwest.
Following World War II, Ire’s son Philip Stratiner returned from service in the Pacific and assumed leadership of the company, guiding its expansion during Seattle’s rise as a cultural and industrial center. In 1973, the third generation joined when Gary Stratiner began driving growth beyond Seattle into California and later the Alaska petrochemical market. In 1978, Philip’s son-in-law, Steve Lewis, joined the business as CFO, strengthening the company’s financial and operational systems. Today, four generations after our founding, Ire Stratiner’s great-grandsons are leading the company into its next century.

While Puget Sound Pipe & Supply has evolved with changing markets and technologies, our core focus has remained constant: providing high-quality PVF products and cultivating long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our customers and vendor partners. Many of these partnerships span multiple generations, reflecting the trust and consistency that define how we do business.
Today, Puget Sound Pipe & Supply operates nine locations and a central distribution center, serving customers across the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and beyond. Our team of approximately 200 employees supports a broad range of industries, including mechanical construction, energy, pipeline and petrochemical, marine, and general industrial markets. We are also proud of our NQA-1 nuclear quality program, which enables us to support nuclear requirements nationwide.
Our success is built on enduring values — People, Integrity, Partnerships, and Excellence— and on the dedication of our employees, customers, and partners. As we look ahead to the next 100 years, we remain committed to investing in modern systems, strengthening the customer experience, and expanding our capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the industries we serve.
Puget Sound Pipe & Supply exists today because of the trust placed in us by generations of customers, partners, and employees. We are honored to continue building on that legacy and look forward to partnering with you.
